How Much Does a Brand Identity Reset Cost in 2026 (And What You Actually Get)
A breakdown of real brand identity reset pricing for small and mid-size US businesses: what drives the cost up or down, and what deliverables to expect at each tier.

Why brand identity pricing varies so wildly
Search "brand identity cost" and you will find quotes ranging from $200 (a logo marketplace) to $250,000 (a holding-company rebrand). Almost none of that range is comparable, because the deliverable is different at every price point.
At the bottom, you are paying for a single static logo file. In the middle, where most small and mid-size businesses should be shopping, you are paying for a system: a mark that works at 16px and on a billboard, a documented color and type system your team can reuse without guessing, and a set of starter templates so day one of using the new brand does not require hiring a designer for every asset.
What actually drives the price
Three factors move the number more than anything else: how much strategy work precedes the design (positioning and naming work added on top roughly doubles scope), how many applications need to be designed beyond the core mark (packaging and environmental signage cost more than a logo and a deck template), and how many rounds of revision are scoped in versus billed as overages.
A studio quoting a flat $6,000–$10,000 for a reset is usually scoping: discovery, 2–3 concept directions, one refinement round, and a guidelines document plus 3–5 core templates. That is the realistic range for a business with one core brand and no packaging or large signage needs.
Red flags when comparing quotes
Be cautious of any quote that does not separately itemize strategy/positioning, design, and templates. Bundled flat fees with no breakdown make it hard to know what you are actually paying for if you need to cut scope.
Also be cautious of quotes with unlimited revisions. In practice this either means the price has padding built in to absorb scope creep, or the studio will quietly cap revisions once the relationship sours. A clearly stated revision count (e.g., 2 rounds per phase) is a sign of a studio that prices accurately rather than padding for the worst case.
How much does a brand identity reset typically cost?
For US small-to-mid-size businesses, a full identity reset (logo system, color/type system, brand guidelines, core templates) typically runs $4,000–$15,000 with an independent studio, and $15,000–$50,000+ with a larger agency. Freelancers can come in under $4,000 but usually deliver a logo only, not a system.
What is included in a brand identity reset versus just a new logo?
A logo redesign is one deliverable. A full identity reset includes a logo system (primary mark, lockups, favicon), a color and typography system, brand guidelines documentation, and a first set of applied templates (business card, social, deck, packaging, or web, depending on the business).
How long does a brand identity reset take?
Most resets take 4–8 weeks from kickoff to final files: 1–2 weeks discovery and positioning, 2–3 weeks concept and design, 1–2 weeks refinement and systemization, plus a final delivery and handoff week.
